Yarriabini National Park Plan of Management

The park protects 3 threatened ecological communities and several endangered or vulnerable species, and several highly significant Aboriginal sites and landscapes, including Mount Yarrahapinni and Scotts Mountain.

The park is part of the Ngambaa People's Country and is also highly significant to the Gumbaynggirr and Dunghutti people. A Memorandum of Understanding provides for the joint management of the park, principally through an Aboriginal Consultative Group.

The plan of management provides for a range of new visitor opportunities, including 4 new sections of walking track, a long-distance 'Summit to Sea' walking route, 2 single-tracks for recreational mountain bikes and a new basic camping area, predominantly for use as a culture camp. The plan restricts vehicular access in the park, including the road to the summit of Mount Yarrahapinni, to protect the park's natural and cultural heritage values and ensure public safety.

This is the first plan of management for the park and was developed in consultation with the Aboriginal Consultative Group.
