Biodiversity certification applications – have your say

An applicant for biodiversity certification must publish notice of the application and invite the public to make submissions on the application. Applications are exhibited on the applicant’s website and may also be published on the Department’s website. After submissions close, the applicant must provide a report to the Department that indicates the applicant’s response to any submissions from the public.

505 Minmi Road Fletcher

Application has been made for biodiversity certification of land at 505 Minmi Road, Fletcher. It includes assessment of impacts on biodiversity of future development resulting from rezoning the land. The application is open for public comment until 22 May 2024.

Biodiversity certification addresses the potential effects of land use change on biodiversity during the early planning stage. The certification process identifies areas that can be developed after they are certified and measures to offset the impacts of development.

This application relates to a planning proposal to rezone approximately 26.2 hectares of land at 505 Minmi Road, Fletcher. The site is currently zoned C4 Environmental Living under the Newcastle Local Environment Plan 2012. It is proposed to rezone the land R2 Low Density Residential (12.7 ha) and C2 Environmental Conservation (13.5 ha).

As part of the biodiversity certification process, the applicant must make the application available and invite the public to make submissions on the application.

After submissions close, the applicant must provide a report to the Department of Climate, Change, Energy, the Environment and Water that includes the applicant’s response to any submissions from the public.
